the house
built
that adam
“the house that adam built“ is an ongoing series that explores global society’s relationship to value, within it self as a group, itself as individuals, and with the natural world as the inevitable setting for our collective reality.
Built as a three part narrative installation, comprising sculpture, film, and photography, this has now been surpassed by an urgent and ongoing photographic documentation of the societal unrest in lisbon caused by the european housing crisis.
this series will inevitably return to its original form, but, for now, the fight for a home surpasses any other goal.
the house that adam built
is of all shapes and sizes,
all inclusive and encompassing.
the house that adam built
has an excellent medicine cabinet
and views of the moon and mars.
the house that adam built
has no ceiling, always one level above.
has no bottom, always one level below.
the house that adam built
serves all and all serves one.
All minus one is 99.
the house that adam built
is not level, it's fertile above and floods below.
it’s our best-worst-best-worst-best-worst... house design.
the house that adam built
is not for sale, you inherit it,
But you are, and so you take the house with you.
the house that adam built
is equal parts freedom and obligation.
it's its beginning, middle and end.
